Our Management Team

  • Paul Brown portrait PAUL BROWN
    Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, IDC WIN
    Managing Director, WWM

    As Chairman and CEO, Paul is responsible for strategically expanding IDC Worldsource Insurance Networks' wealth management platform for independent advisors. As Managing Director of Worldsource Wealth Management (WWM), Paul plays a principal role in ensuring the overall collaboration of WWM's subsidiaries to support and complement the needs of entrepreneurial advisors from each sector.

    Paul brings extensive executive experience in the financial services sector to IDC WIN. Most recently he was President and CEO of Barrington Wealth Partners Inc. Prior to Barrington, over a period of more than 10 years, he built a successful insurance distribution business, The Independent Brokerage Group, which was acquired by Hub International Ltd. in 1999. Paul also served as Chairman and CEO of Hub Financial Inc., one of the country's largest life insurance distributors.

    Paul has an Economics degree from The University of Western Ontario. He also holds CLU and ChFc designations.

  • Ron Madzia portrait RON MADZIA
    Vice Chairman

    As President, Ron is responsible for the growth and expansion of IDC WIN. Ron is also responsible for overseeing the operation of IDC WIN offices across Canada.

    Ron has been in the financial services industry for 29 years. He has held various insurance management positions on a branch and regional level, as well as corporately where he was responsible for recruiting advisors to a major securities firm.

    He has been with IDC WIN for over 12 years and was primarily responsible for taking the organization from 50 to over 1500 advisors.

    President

    Phil Marsillo is President, IDC Worldsource Insurance Network Inc. (IDC WIN). He assumed this role at IDC WIN in April 2018, with a responsibility for the overall sales and operations of the company, working closely with existing management teams across the country.

    Phil career in the insurance industry began 35 years ago. Prior to IDC WIN, he held a senior leadership role with a leading Canadian life insurance company. He has been active in the industry throughout his career including CLHIA committees, consultation with regulators and contributions to other industry associations.

    Phil holds Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation.

  • Andy Gellatly portrait ANDY GELLATLY
    Senior Vice President

    As Senior Vice President, Andy is responsible for managing the overall growth of IDC WIN’S sales by co-ordinating and steering the sales and marketing initiatives of all the regions.

    Andy entered the life insurance business in 1967 through the London Life university training program. He spent seven years with them in personal sales and sales management.

    In 1974, he formed Andrew K. Gellatly Insurance Agency Limited where he sold personal, corporate and group insurance with his license being sponsored by Crown Life Insurance Company.

    In 1987, he became a Vice President of Sales with Crown Life with 22 agencies reporting to him. In 1991, Crown Life moved to Regina and Andy left them to join Canada Life in Toronto. He ran their President’s Award winning office in Scarborough until June 1998. Canada Life stepped away from the career agency system then and Andy was appointed a Regional Vice President of their downtown Regional Marketing Centre. For five years in a row, it was Canada Life’s number one brokerage office. In 2003, Andy joined Ron Madzia at IDC Financial as an owner.

    Andy has his Chartered Life Underwriter designation and his Certified Management Professional designation.

    Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing

    Greg Osmak is Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, IDC Worldsource Insurance Network Inc. (IDC WIN). He joined IDC WIN in 2004 as Vice President, Business Development. He assumed his current role in 2018 with responsibility for sales results across all five of the regions IDC WIN operates.

    Greg’s career in the life insurance and financial services industry began in 1985 when he joined Canada Life in Edmonton Alberta. He subsequently relocated to Ontario, where he led a highly recognized office until 1999, following which he opened his own managing general agency. After a successful five years, he merged his business with IDC Financial (a predecessor firm of IDC WIN).

    In his new role, Greg will continue his work to help position IDC WIN for the future, meeting the firm’s strategic goals to advance its services through innovative initiatives, and expand its reach.

  • Stephen Lui portrait STEPHEN LUI
    Senior Vice President, Ontario & Asian Markets, IDC WIN

    Stephen Lui is Senior Vice President, Ontario & Asian Markets, IDC Worldsource Insurance Network Inc. (IDC WIN). He joined IDC WIN in 2006. In his current role, Stephen has responsibility for sales results in Ontario and across Canada for the Asian segment of the market, along with management of IDC WIN’s Ontario Business Development teams.

    Stephen’s career in the financial services industry began in 1989 when he joined Sun Life. In 1992, he relocated to Hong Kong where he opened a real estate business, returning to Canada in 1995 to join Canada Life in a sales capacity. Stephen opened a managing general agency that he successfully ran for over eight years, following which he merged his business with IDC Financial (a predecessor firm of IDC WIN) and became a Managing Partner.

    Stephen graduated from University of Manitoba with a Bachelors of Science (Hon.) in Statistics and Applied Mathematics. He holds a Master’s degree in Science (majoring in Statistics) from the same university.

  • Jason Payne portrait JASON PAYNE
    Vice President, Atlantic Canada

    As Vice President of Atlantic Canada, Jason is responsible for development and expansion of business in the four Atlantic Provinces.

    Jason started his career as a Sunlife agent in Halifax in 1993. In 1996, Jason joined a disability insurance company called Unum Canada as Sales Consultant for Atlantic Canada. In 2000, he accepted a role within UnumProvident to manage the Eastern Ontario operations. In 2004, Jason entered the MGA business in Halifax and has experienced significant success in helping independent advisors.

    Jason holds a BSc (major in Chemistry) from McGill University.

  • Ken Aberg portrait KEN ABERG
    Vice President, Prairie Region

    With the acquisition of First Prairie Financial Inc. by IDC Worldsource Insurance Network Inc, Ken as co-founder will now have responsibility to lead this branch office to even higher levels of productivity and quality business in the IDC WIN organization.

    Ken has over forty years of industry experience, the first twenty-five as a leading manager with Canada Life. He has served on numerous company and industry boards and is a past chair of the Alberta Life Insurance Council.

    Ken is a graduate of the University of Calgary and holds the CFP, CLU and CH.F.C designations.

  • Joe Ruddell portrait JOE RUDDELL
    Vice President, Prairie Region

    As Vice President, Prairie Region, Joe is responsible for the development and expansion of business throughout the Prairie Region, while contributing to the National Management Team.

    Joe joined the life insurance and financial services industry in 1984, with  Canada Life in Saskatoon, SK. While building an insurance based practice he entered a managerial role in 1987.  Joe transferred to Edmonton with Canada Life in 1993 to assume a Regional Position where he was responsible for working with new and experienced advisors in building their businesses.  In 1999 he, along with his partner Ken Aberg, started First Prairie Financial a MGA which he owned and operated until merging into IDC Worldsource Insurance Network in 2015.

    Joe has always been a supporter of Advocis and is a past president of the local Advocis Board, CLU Chapter, LIMAC Chapter as well as a past Advocis National Board member.  He currently is serving on the Advocis National LRP Committee and the Alberta Political Action Committee.

  • Gary Hartwardt portrait GARY HARWARDT
    Vice President, Prairie Region

    As Vice President Prairie Region, Gary is responsible for development and expansion of business in the Prairies.

    With over 37 years of industry experience, most recently as Marketing Director for IDC WIN Prairie Region. His past experiences include various executive roles with Colonia, Citadel Life and Sales Manager with Great West Life. In 1999 he established Broker Link which merged with SBS in 2008 and was later acquired by IDC WIN in November of 2012.

    Gary has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta. He also holds CLU, Ch.F.C. and CFP designations.

  • Jas GIll portrait JAS GILL
    Vice President, Sales & Marketing

    As Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Jas is instrumental in furthering sales and developing the infrastructure that our partners require to excel in this competitive marketplace.

    With over fifteen years of industry experience, Jas brings a wealth of insurance and financial services experience. Prior to joining IDC Worldsource Insurance Network, she was Regional Sales Director with Sun Life Financial and was responsible for the marketing and sales of products to third party distribution partners in British Columbia. Jas' professional experience is complemented by a strong academic background and a detailed understanding of financial service distribution within Canada.

    Jas holds her MBA from the University of British Columbia. She also is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Canadian Investment Manager and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).

  • Betsy Wan portrait BETSY WAN
    Vice President, Operations - Western Canada

    As Vice President, Operations - Western Canada, Betsy is responsible for the smooth flow of all administrative operations of the company. Her in-depth knowledge of the functions of a MGA ensures a smooth working relationship with IDC WIN advisors across the country. In this capacity, she is also responsible for IDC WIN's technology platform, VirtGate.

    With a long career in the Canadian insurance industry, Betsy brings sound knowledge and a strong level of commitment to the senior management team. In 1990, Betsy joined Empire Life where she held various roles. Betsy joined Trowbridge Financial in 1997 and 2008 was appointed Vice President of Operations at Worldsource Insurance Network.

    Betsy holds ACS, AIAA and FLMI designations.

  • Margaret Lyne portrait MARGARET LYNE
    Vice President, Operations - Eastern Canada

    As Vice President, Operations - Eastern Canada, Margaret oversees multiple operational areas within the organization. Her business focus includes new business, policy service, contracting, compensation and investment processing. Margaret works with staff, advisors and insurance carriers to facilitate operational efficiencies and also contributes her business knowledge and professionalism to benefit industry groups including CLIEDIS.

    Margaret joined IDC Worldsource Insurance Network in 2012, bringing over 22 years of operational experience to the organization. Over the course of her career, Margaret has worked with insurance companies including Canada Life and Transamerica and came to us from her most recent role of Vice President, Operations with a major wealth management company. Margaret’s strong commitment to service excellence combined with her process improvement and people management skills make her a key part of our continued operational efficiency and customer satisfaction focus.

    Margaret holds a BA from the University of Toronto.

  • Don Hart portrait DON HART
    Vice President, Training and Development

    Don Hart is Vice President, Training and Development, IDC Worldsource Insurance Network (IDC WIN). He joined IDC WIN in 2015 in this role, with a mandate to grow and evolve educational programs and processes, and best practices for advisors.

    In his role as Vice President, Training and Development, Don has direct responsibility to oversee all education forums for IDC WIN, as well as promotion of the Lifetime Economic Acceleration Process (LEAP) system for IDC WIN, and to introduce and train IDC WIN advisors in the use of the Money Trax, a sales and marketing system.

    His career in the insurance industry and advisor training began in 1981, and he subsequently assumed progressively more responsibilities and expertise in sales processes and products. He ran his own insurance practice, as well as conducting hundreds of training sessions throughout his career. He had a significant role in bringing LEAP and Money Trax into Canada. Prior to IDC WIN he was executive vice president in charge of recruitment, development and training of advisors at an Ontario MGA.

  • Samuel Chan Portrait SAMUEL CHAN
    Vice President, Asian Markets

    As Vice President, Asian Markets, Samuel will be our core resource in furthering IDC WIN’s development of our infrastructure and channel management that our partners require to excel in this fast growing Asian Market Segment.

    With over 25 years of industry experience, Samuel brings a wealth of insurance, banking and other related financial services experience. Prior to joining IDC Worldsource Insurance Network, he was Director of Sales with Manulife Financial’s Private Wealth Division and was responsible for the marketing and sales of Discretionary Investment and Private Lending to Asian Advisors in Ontario for its high net worth target market.

    Samuel's professional experience is complemented by a strong academic background and a detailed understanding of financial service distribution within Canada. Being well versed in Cantonese and Mandarin, Samuel is known as a resourceful speaker in assisting advisors in client seminars.

    Samuel holds his MSc from the University of Salford, UK. He is a Charted Financial Planner (ChFP), and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).

  • Henriette Bichai Portrait HENRIETTE BICHAI
    Regional Vice President, Québec Operations

    Henriette Bichai is Vice President, Québec Operations, IDC Worldsource Insurance Network. She joined IDC WIN in 2018 in this role, with a mandate to operate, grow and expand the Québec Operation. Henriette has been in the business for 14 years in senior management roles and operated her own MGA from 2007-2014. She has a wealth of knowledge and specializes in difficult cases, is very resourceful and experienced. She is committed to sharing her knowledge, and furthering it.

    Henriette holds a bachelor degree in Political Science. She has attended Harvard University in Management, and is a Chartered Financial Planner (CFP) candidate.

  • Eric Wachtel portrait ERIC WACHTEL
    National Chief Compliance Officer

    As National Chief Compliance Officer, Eric is responsible for maintaining and strengthening IDC WIN’s compliance programs and initiatives. Eric has 20 years of experience in the life insurance industry and joined IDC Financial in 2001. Since that time he has worked steadily to build IDC’s compliance programs while maintaining a pro-business environment. This has established IDC Financial and now IDC WIN as a respected industry leader in compliance. Most recently IDC WIN achieved the top compliance score ranking in the Investment Executive’s ‘2015 Insurance Advisor’s Report Card’ survey, achieving an average overall rating by advisors of 9.7 out 10. Since joining IDC Financial, Eric has occupied the positions of Mutual Fund Branch Manager, Business Development Executive and Director of the IDC WIN Institute - a specialized training and education division of IDC WIN.
